Editor – new font

Hi there,

Recently I’ve decided to change the font I was using in my editor ( flashdevelop ), for a better one. So I’ve looked around on the web to find which free programming fonts ( monospace font ) I could use and I’ve found TOO MANY of them :)

I didn’t look at all of them but end up using the ProggyClean font ( http://www.proggyfonts.com/ ). Really neat font to code with.

I’ve found too a font that “looks” good but once installed on my computer and using it with flashdevelop, the font was blurry. I dunno if it’s coming from flashdevelop ( probably ). I’ll email the guy :)
The font is the Envy Code R by Damien Guard and you can find it HERE

I would be interested to see, in the comments, which font you are using in your favorite editor. Maybe I miss THE one.

Envy Code R is optimised for 10 point but I havent’ tried it with Flash’s own font renderer. Trying to get a scalable font sharp in every rendering system (Windows, Mac, Java, Flash) is seemingly an impossible task.

Send me a screenshot and I’ll take a look.

Hey damien, nice to see you here :)
Ok I’m using this font with an editor called Flashdevelop, done in C#. SO i’m not using it within flash… I put 10 point for the font too, but was unable to get it working under flashdevelop… Dunno why. Any other fonts I tried were fine…

    I’m using CodingFontTobi.
I blogged about it here: http://www.danieltome.com/blog/2006/12/30/coding-fonts-in-flashdevelop/

I gave envy a try first, but it didn’t feel right. But I read there were some improvements made, so I’ll give it a try.

    cheers,

Envy Code R PR7 is now out with full hinting and it seems to be far more consistent across operating systems, it looks great so far on Windows, Mac and Java…

    Grab it from http://damieng.com/envy-code-r
